The pottery shown in this gallery is a collaboration between potter, Troy Meek, and Ruth Marcanti. Troy creates  the pots on a potter’s wheel.  After the vessels air dry, Troy applies about 6-7 coats of an ultrafine slip. When the slip is dry, Ruth paints with colored slips on the pots, using Oriental brush painting techniques.

The vessels are then fired in an electric kiln. After removal from the kiln, the pots are fired again, in a pit fire, dug into the ground. The fire is carefully controlled and takes anywhere from 3-6 hours.  After removal from the pit, the pots are sealed using a specially prepared wax and buffed to a final sheen.
